During this time of global crisis, the norm is for companies to delay the release of video games and other forms of entertainment. From the Final Fantasy VII Remake to a delayed Nintendo Direct, the video game industry is in the midst of sustained turmoil. But some companies are choosing to forge ahead in these trying times. On Friday, Legendary announced the much anticipated release of the Detective Pikachu graphic novel.

Legendary Evolution

Announced last summer, the Detective Pikachu graphic novel hoped to capitalize on the success of the movie. After a series of interviews with writer Brian Buccellato, fans expected Legendary to release the graphic novel in 2019. But the release never came, and the comic book was lost in the midst of other video game news.

Fast forward to 2020, and the world is collectively struggling to overcome a global pandemic. With events and outlets canceling across the globe, Detective Pikachu is bucking the norm. As of March 27th, Legendary announced that the entire Detective Pikachu graphic novel is now available. Here are a few screenshots from the new comic:


Although the Sonic the Hedgehog movie will likely surpass Detective Pikachu in sales, the Pokemon graphic novel release should reignite fan interest in the series. But we want to know what you think.
