Okami Getting a Sequel

Capcom released its annual report this week. Within the report, the company’s marketing strategy is to “bolster our lineup through revival of dormant IP and catalog titles.” Less than 24 hours later, Okami Creative Director Ikumi Nakamura tweeted the following:
For those unfamiliar with the series, Okami is an action-adventure game that is heavily inspired by the Legend of Zelda series. The game utilizes a unique Japanese watercolor style called “Ukiyo-e”, which gives the game a whimsical feel.
Okami originally released in 2006 on the Playstation 2. Although critically acclaimed, the game struggled to push sales. Capcom released an updated HD version in December 2017, which resulted in better sales volume. To date, Okami has sold over 2.6 million units.
As Capcom continues to build momentum with the Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series, time will tell if Okami 2 has the same level of success.
