We have all heard the phrase “a day late and a dollar short”. Such is the case with Capcom and leaks concerning Resident Evil. On Friday, trusted Twitter insider “AestheticGamer” revealed that Capcom was planning to drop a Resident Evil 3 Remake demo this week. While the news is not surprising, Capcom had an interesting response.

Getting Ahead at Being Behind

It is no surprise that Capcom had a rough 2019. With the upcoming release of Resident Evil 3 Remake, the troubled developer hopes to resurrect a legacy. While a secret demo reveal was likely in the works, Capcom confirmed that a RE3R is available this Thursday, March 19th.

Although fans will not have to wait long for the April 3rd release, RE3R comes complete with many new gameplay mechanics. Jill’s “emergency dodge” coupled with updated graphics should make for a memorable experience. According to Capcom, this demo is available on PS4, XBOX One, and PC on March 19th and will feature a “slice of the full game”. While it is unknown if player saves will transfer over to the full game, we are excited to try out the new mechanics.

In addition to the demo, Capcom also announced that an “Open Beta” version of the game is available on March 27th. We can safely assume that this means the game is in a complete state, and Capcom is using an early beta release to inform future patches. This strategy is curious in that most game developers wait until post version 1.0 to work with patched content. Assuming the beta provides Capcom with the intended information, this strategy could influence other developers to consider early beta releases.
