Most video games lose popularity a few weeks after launch; however, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to trend worldwide. From the start of the pandemic, Nintendo’s cutesy social simulation game remains a global phenomenon. With the help of new customization tools, New Horizon players have overcome the depression of social distancing by expressing their innovating sides. From hosting online weddings and parties to crafting outfits modeled after celebrities, the creativity of the Animal Crossing community knows no bounds. On Sunday, Animal Crossing players took it to the next level by placing villagers in the stands of an NFL game. Let’s dive in.

An Adorable Infiltration

As the world continues to heal from the global pandemic, large social gathers are a distant memory. The timeframe for a return to normalcy is unclear; therefore, most large sporting events remain closed. But fans of certain professional teams are finding new and innovative ways to show their support. On Sunday, the Detroit Lions showed support for the home team by placing several Animal Crossing villagers in the stands.

Although the creative gesture did not stop the Colts from throttling the Lions 41-21, fans of the NFL and Animal Crossing were ecstatic. But should the inclusion of New Horizon villagers in an NFL game have been a surprise? The staff at GamingROI does not think so. The Detroit Lions 2020 schedule reveal went largely unnoticed, but the team’s official website released a special video. Using characters and items in the game, the Lions PR staff created an innovative Animal Crossing themed video for fans. The division rivalries are particularly funny, and Carole Baskin even makes an appearance. In addition, the Lions released Animal Crossing Design ID codes for customized jerseys and hates. The Design IDs are still active on the Lions official Twitter page. Enjoy!
