CrossCode Switch Receives Much Needed Gameplay Patch
The Nintendo Switch is equally frustrating and polarizing. While the video game community lauds the portability of AAA titles, critics often cite the system’s compromised graphics and frame rate. Performance challenges are a struggle not only for large studios but also for smaller independent developers. But the indie studio behind a critically acclaimed action role-playing game recently polished a few remaining flaws. On Monday, Deck13 announced several fixes for the Nintendo Switch version of CrossCode. Let’s dive in.
Buffing Out the Scratches
Under development for nearly a decade, CrossCode released on July 9th for all consoles. While critics praised the game’s combat and story, review scores reference multiple performance issues. From slow menu screen navigation to game-breaking bugs, the Nintendo Switch version experienced the most problems. On Monday, Deck13 announced the release of version 1.0.8 with the following patch notes:
- Fixed the slowed down menu
- Improved performance for high-density areas, such as towns and over-world areas with numerous NPCs and enemies
- Repaired multiple bugs that caused the game to crash, which included NPC menus and boss battles
The main menu fix is the most significant. Prior to the patch, the delay in the secondary menus lasted approximately 1-2 seconds. However, staff at GamingROI is happy to confirm that the update corrects the issue. CrossCode currently sells for $19.99 on all platforms.
