Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Releasing March 31
Sometimes, developers are able to surprise fans with the news of a remastered video game. At other times, fans seemingly will a video game remaster into existence. The latter appears to be the case with one of Call of Duty’s most popular titles: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.
What is Old is New
It is no secret that the Call of Duty franchise has been mired in mediocrity over the last several years. Despite earning over $500 million in lifetime sales, Activision investors were disappointed with Call of Duty Black Ops IIII. While Modern Warfare 2019 has exceeded expectations, the CoD series has not exceeded 25 million in unit sales since Modern Warfare 2. Hoping to capitalize on fan nostalgia, Activision appears to be secretly releasing Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.
The fan-operated Twitter account “MW2 Remastered”, revealed the leaked CoD Modern Warfare 2 trailer around 8am EST. The trailer showcased the following improvements:
- Remastered Campaign
- Updated animation, textures, rendering, and lighting
- Returning character favorites including Rojas, Price, Shepherd, Ghost, and others
In addition, the Twitter feed revealed that the file size is approximately 45GB. Although the official Call of Duty feed has yet to announce the remake, we expect much more news in the next 24 hours. GamingROI will continue to update this feed on all Modern Warfare 2 Remastered related news.
Conclusion
While it is not unusual for companies to port games onto new platforms, the industry has been hesitant to remaster older games.
