  • Prominent YouTube creator “TheGamingRevolution” expects Activision to remaster Modern Warfare 3
  • TGR expects Activision to release the game as a one-month timed exclusive for PlayStation 4

In a year defined by turmoil as a result of the coronavirus, developers continue to embrace remasters and remakes. The industry’s most celebrated examples include Final Fantasy VII, Trials of Mana, and Resident Evil 3. But another popular franchise has also adopted a “remastered” strategy. While Activision recently published a remaster of Modern Warfare 2, the company has plans to remake another popular title in the Call of Duty series: Modern Warfare 3.

Something Old, Something New

2020 was already a massive year for fans of the Call of Duty series, but the popular first-person shooter is the gift that keeps on giving. As the franchise’s diehards continue to enjoy Warzone and Modern Warfare 2, a reliable source has indicated that Activision plans to release Modern Warfare 3. Dubbed “TheGamingRevolution“, this YouTube creator has a proven history of successful leaks. In fact, Twitter banned TGR last month for successfully leaking Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. Now, the CoD fanatic has updated rumors regarding Activision’s plan for the Modern Warfare series in 2020.

  • Activision plans to remaster all three Modern Warfare campaigns on current generation consoles. By doing so, players can relive the entire Modern Warfare story, which continues with Modern Warfare 2019.
  • Activision does not plan on adding multiplayer to any of the Modern Warfare remasters.
  • The game will release as a one-time timed exclusive for PlayStation 4.
  • Sony assisted Activision by partially funding the remaster, much like Modern Warfare 2.
  • While the three Modern Warfare remasters released several years apart, the games will all run on the same engine.

Conclusion

While remasters and remakes are routine in the video game industry, Activision has quickened the pace. As the popular video game publisher continues to replace loot boxes with season passes, Activision’s strategy appears to be increasing the frequency of its release schedule. So instead of releasing a Modern Warfare remastered trilogy, the publisher is methodically releasing each of its games as a standalone experience.
